Dry Skin Treatment - Bringing a Dull Appearance Back to Life

Dry skin treatment can take a variety of forms, depending on the underlying cause, and severity of the resulting condition. While the goal is somewhat opposite to that for oily skin treatment, in fact all basic skincare is the same in incorporating cleansing, toning and moisturizing components, appropriate to the different skin types.

What to avoid

For drier skin:
* factors such as hot water, dry weather in summer or winter all increase moisture loss and require extra special treatment.
* Products containing drying ingredients such as alcohol, talc or soaps

For oily skin:
* Products and cosmetics containing oils (other than essential oils)
* Over cleansing, resulting in even greater production by the oil glands

What to include:

* Dry skin can be relieved by adding humidity to your indoor environment using plants, fountains, or humidifiers
* Use an exfoliant to remove dead, dried skin cells and thereby reduce itching and encourage natural cellular rejuvenation
* Intensive moisturizing treatment overnight when a greasy face doesn't present aesthetic concerns

* Treat oily skin to a weekly deep cleaning to dig out excess oil with a mask or scrub
* Use water based lotions and cosmetics
